I woke up to a heart-breaking news- Robin Wiliams was found dead in an apparent suicide. My heart sank. How could the world be so cruel to the man who has brought so much laughter and happy memories? I don’t usually do this but i think he deserves a spot here.

I grew up watching him because my auntie who is based in Hawaii would visit us back in Manila and bring VCD of all sorts of movies way back in my childhood. We would watch it over and over during get togethers.

One of my favourites was ‘Hook’. Robin played the grown up Peter Pan in the movie and I love it to pieces I would gush over it when it comes out on HBO now.

Another absolute favourite is his role as Euphegenia Doubtfire, oh, how I will miss him 😦

In this movie ‘Night at the Museum’, I was afraid he would out shine the lead character! I mean, are there any movies he didn’t do well?

I cried and laughed in this movie. Such a moving performance from all the cast but one memorable line me and my friend shared over the years was something Robin said to Matt. He told him, ‘It’s not your fault.’ It was about not carrying emotional baggages when one shouldn’t. It became a life application for some of us. Such a legacy.

This is only small fraction of what he’s done. Such a legacy you left, Mr. Williams. I will make sure to get a copy of these movies so I can share your legacy, Mr. Williams.

I’ve first heard of ComicCon events from Sheldon Cooper and his gang in ‘Big Bang Theory’ series. I later learned that it’s like a sacred day for fanatics to convene and showcase what’s the latest cool. When I heard about the Bangkok ComicCon, I took a mental note to make time and visit just out of curiosity.

One of the things I really hoped to see there was ‘Frozen’, the latest cartoon movie that earned the crown for longest LSS among the youngsters and the young at hearts for its award winning soundtrack ‘Let it go’ among others.

‘The Walking Dead’ was also a must-see. I was so amazed to see prosthetics live!

There were several centers of interest but I felt ‘Game of Thrones’ was the highlight. The queue to the throne was never-ending! I came straight from church and boy, were my legs on fire by the time I had my turn to sit on the Philippine- made prop!

There were a lot of critiques about it but the organizers did a fantastic job for its premier! I am already looking forward to next year’s!!

‘The odds are NEVER in your favour!’ This was written across the inside lining of the District 11 train station, something that I don’t remember reading in my eBook that made me want to read all three installments again!

My critique
The plot- The director did little in presenting the whole story. He told it like it is, in the book. Which every moviegoer who has read it and read it like drinking every drop of it like it was sweet honey, will appreciate. I hope this is the same case for ‘Catching Fire’.

The cast- Every movie that has a sequel always gets bonus points when they keep the same actors especially for lead roles. The best addition to the powerhouse cast is the actor who played Plutarch Heavensby, Philip Seymour-Hoffman. His cold demeanour before the revolution was defiance like words scribbled across his face but to those who haven’t seen the 3rd installment would spell hostility.

The acting- Katniss Everdeen, played by Jennifer Lawrence, did not have a hard time because her face is the epitome of sweet innocence but an explosive defiance at command. But I think her cries during the beating of Gale, when Peeta bumped into the force field and when Cina was beaten in front of her was a little muted. It needed a little dose of extra rage. be continued…

Last night, my sister messaged me on Facebook excited about my nephew Micah getting featured on Gandang Ganda Vice, November 24, 2013 episode 25. She was very proud telling me that the facts presented were based on my blog entry.

Flattered, I went to search all outlets and finally bumped into a full episode of GGV only to be slapped in the face when I saw that the credits were given to Rappler not!!

I wonder if Maria Resa is aware that they are being given credit for something that is not theirs? I wonder if Vice Ganda is aware that HE or his producers are giving credit to those who did not own it?

I also happen to be Vice Ganda’s follower on Twitter so I tweeted him or his fan page right away asking to make the correction. Awaiting a reply soon.

I posted the link of my blog entry on Facebook, my sister did and my friend, and I assume it spread like wild fire but there is no excuse why they would put Rappler as source not the website itself? I wouldn’t have minded if they just grabbed it off my page but the fact that they named Rappler as the source is crossing the line.

I know Rappler has quite an integrity and I am just a beginner blogger, but hey! all the more reason why they should uphold the standard to copyright laws and ettiquette on themselves!

Watching Bond movies were sort of a compulsory activity not only for me growing up but also for my sibblings and cousins because we were surrounded by uncles who discreetly adores Agent 007. Last night, watching ‘SkyFall’ with my roommate Lem, and Yengo staffer Preaw was more of just an excuse because I haven’t been to the movies in ages. Here’s my review:

SKYFALL is the name of the castle or property where James Bond grew up as a little boy. Both his parents were killed in the property and he has never been back since lately. The big old house was looked after by sweet old fluffy Mr. Kincaid. It’s where M gets killed during an attack by someone who used to call her ‘Mum’.

The Lead Actor: I was never fond of Daniel Craig  as James Bond since he did Casino Royale, worse when I saw Quantum of Solace. He had that same uncharismatic demeanor I find rather blasphemous to the roles played previously by Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton and Roger Moore. At least this time, he’d had lighter moments with the villain during their first meeting at the deserted island, made the movie-goers bark out a short laugh more than a couple times.
I always find the Bond villians disturbingly unique, this one was not an exception. This latest one, though, falls under a different category- the disgruntled former MI6 employee category. Javier was perfect for the role and his coldness made me feel chills running down my spine.I thought I wanted to see more of half-Cambodian Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe. But I will surely miss Judi Dench as M. Bond movies will never be the same without Judi Dench 😦
The Plot– I appreciated the plot this time compared to the two previous ones Craig did because this one was not about his lovelife but about Bond’s family and history. I thought it was pathetic of the writers to minor on the Bond charm and capitalize on the vulnerability of M (as played by Judi Dench). They even had to kill M to make me say ‘I wonder what’s gonna happen next?’!!!!
The Soundtrack- What can I say, Adele’s hoarsely ‘SkyFall’ serenade was just awesome. I am not even sure if I should be doing a review of her because I love her and I am biased when it comes to her music 😀 Enclosed is the lyrics of the song in full.
This is the end
Hold your breath and count to ten
Feel the earth move and then
Hear my heart burst againFor this is the end
I’ve drowned and dreamed this moment
So overdue, I owe them
Swept away, I’m stolen

Let the sky fall, when it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together

Let the sky fall, when it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
At skyfall

Skyfall is where we start
A thousand miles and poles apart
When worlds collide, and days are dark
You may have my number, you can take my name
But you’ll never have my heart

Let the sky fall, when it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together

Let the sky fall, when it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
At skyfall

Where you go I go,
What you see I see
I know I’ll never be me, without the security
Of your loving arms
Keeping me from harm
Put your hand in my hand
And we’ll stand

Let the sky fall, when it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together

Let the sky fall, when it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together
At skyfall

Let the sky fall
We will stand tall
At skyfall

I’m still definitely gonna go see the next Bond movie if only to practise my critique-ing skills and be  contented with being amused by a line or two. But I will definitely miss Judi Dench.
