After my trip to Venice, Italy last Spring, I am convinced that I now have that power to say whether an Italian dish is authentic or not. Heheh I most probably could be wrong since I only had a total of 8 meals (all different Italian dishes, by the way) during my three-day trip to Venezia, but hey, this is my blog, allow me to lift my own couch, haha!

Anyways, coming back to Bangkok I was greeted by a rave about this Italian resto along Thonglor-SOLE MIO.

The place has its own little hideaway but easy to spot with its large neon lights especially at night. It has this cozy homey feel upon entrance. My first order was my favourite Italian dish- Pasta Al Mare. This dish is sort of my litmus test in every Italian resto I ever go to, always my first order. Man, their Al Mare gave me a generous dose of Venezia! Every bite reminded me of the honest-to-goodness meal I had at the trattoria facing the morning wet market on my first morning in Venice. I remembered the buzzing people passing by and the honking when a throng of protesters were making their way through the crowd to the Piazza San Marco square while in every biteful of the seafood pasta. Hmmm, IT. WAS. GOOD.

My order on our second visit is my newest comfort food- OSSOBUCO.

It’s beef along with its bone and bone marrow braised in spices and veggies like carrots and celery to a melting point, it seems. Whenever I am stressed or sad, I always find myself heading towards the little nook that is one mocy ride away from my flat.

Oh, and by the way, people on Foursquare get’s a little somethin’ somethin’ on their first check-in at Sole Mio- a couple friend of ours had a whole pizza for FREE and we had 10% off on our bill that day…pretty sweet, huh?

“Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life” (Matthew 6:25-27).
